Karma has finally caught up with a killer – at a terrible price
Joran van der Sloot

After five years of anguish few of us will ever face or understand, Natalee Holloway’s mother, Beth, is now joined in tears by the family of Stephany Flores Ramirez, who many believe is Joran van der Sloot’s second victim. Some have mused there may be more.
I’ll admit, van der Sloot had slipped from my memory, except for those times when Jane Valez-Mitchell or Nancy Grace brought him back into the spotlight on one of their nightly shows.
When I heard the breaking news that he was being sought in another girl’s death, I found it difficult to believe. Not because I thought he was innocent of Natalee Holloway’s disappearance – I didn’t. To this day, I believe he had something to do with her death. However, I couldn’t believe anyone who’d escaped justice as he had would be so stupid or arrogant as to kill again.
How wrong I was.
And how awful that the Aruban authorities didn’t put van der Sloot away when they had a chance. Rumors said his father, a powerful attorney and judge-in-training, did everything he could to keep his boy out of prison.
Way to go, dad. Your misguided loyalty has led to another young woman losing her life. Your insistence on keeping your son from accepting any responsibility most likely led him to believe that he could get away with anything.
Well, as they say, karma’s a bitch. It finally caught up with him.
The only good that will come out of this is that the world’s young women will now be safe from his rage, compulsions, or whatever it is that drives him to murder.
My prayers go out to Stephany’s family and to Natalee’s. Rest peacefully. There are no monsters in heaven.
