Ever hear of Amber Nicklas?
If you haven’t, don’t feel bad – most people have not.

Why?
Because Amber was abducted from her foster parents when she was one. The people who kidnapped her were her three aunts. And what did they do with little Amber?
They gave her to a Phoenix couple who have been hiding her from the authorities ever since. At nearly eight years old, Amber has never been to school. When the police arrived at the couple’s house, the couple tried to hide Amber beneath a pile of clothes and towels in the bathroom.
In a news story from USA Today, LA County’s Sheriff Department’s Captain, Patrick Maxwell, said, “(Amber) appeared like any other almost 8-year-old.”
Oh really? How many other kids that age have not been allowed to go to school because they’re being hidden from the authorities? And if she wasn’t being allowed to go to school, what did the couple, who were acting as her parents, tell the people in the neighborhood? Or did the neighbors even know little Amber existed?
And now, because the couple aren’t her legal relatives, Amber’s been returned to foster care. It boggles the mind to consider what that child has gone through. Kidnapping. Being hidden. Being torn from the only parents she knows. Being put back into foster care.
Did her aunts think about any of that when they abducted her? And if they bothered to kidnap her, why didn’t they keep her? What’s up with that?
Every one of these adults who’ve played so fast and loose with this little girl’s life needs to be brought to justice. They need to know this isn’t acceptable. They need to have the rug pulled out from them as they’ve repeatedly done to this child.
