CONTEST and guest blog with Sam Cheever!
Sam’s taking over my blog today to introduce you to her smokin’ hot release The Devil You Want. What a cover. She’s also offering a contest (more on that later).
For now, here’s Sam!!
A Kick-Ass Demon Hunter
My name is Astra Q. Phelps. Don’t ask me what the Q stands for because that little piece of info will go with me to the crematorium. I’ve had all printed documentation of the name destroyed and, though a lot of my enemies have tried to dig it out, no one will ever know what it stands for. A girl has to have some secrets. Especially when the truth would cause her some serious embarrassment.
I run a business called the Angel Network, which is the only devil and demon locating and destroying business in the universe. In other words, I kick serious evil butt for a living. I am a Tweener. What exactly is a Tweener you ask? A Tweener is a non-human. We have neither wings nor horns, but generally have both angel and devil in our family forests. Which is probably why we enjoy a higher sensitivity to spectral influence than regular human people.
Recently, the Celestial Army has been keeping me pretty busy saving the world. Over and over and over and…well, you get what I’m saying. The human world just has trouble staying saved.
It’s been a busy and confusing time. But it’s about to get much worse.
My twenty-fifth birthday is just a few months away.
The thing about that twenty-fifth birthday is…well…for Tweeners it’s kind of make-or-break time. It’s called our Settling and it’s the culmination of our growth period. The time when we become what we will be in life. It’s also the time when the dark side of our nature has the greatest pull.
It is on our twenty-fifth birthday that we decide which way we’re gonna go. Good or bad. Black or white. Gray usually isn’t an option. And outside influences have a lot to do with the outcome. In my case, my influence pool is decidedly murky, given the fact that I hang out a lot with devils.
Lately, my life has taken a turn toward the complex. Dialle, King of the Royal Devils on Earth and my steady boyfriend, is really mad at me because I marked him with a Daemon hickey.
I guess females aren’t supposed to be able to mark males.
How would I know that? Nobody told me that little piece of devil trivia, thank you very much. And apparently it isn’t true anyway…since I did manage to put that cute, little power mark on his sexy throat.
But now he’s all embarrassed and mad and threatened in a male way, and I’m dancing the romance two-step trying to win back his love.
To make things even more complex, somebody’s trying really hard to kill me. And they’re doing a bang up job of it too. Staying alive is becoming increasingly difficult.
And my longtime friend and partner Emo is in celestial anger management, dealing with his own Settling.
Forget doing my job slaying demons.
The one place I can go for help isn’t really a good option at all. Since the helpful and sexy Slayer represents mucho temptation to me and my stupid Settling.
Any minute now my slut-monkey side might just take him up on one of those offers he likes to present during a moment of weakness.
My weakness…not his.
So anyway, those are the high points of my life at the moment.
What? Oh, you wanted the dirty details? Well, all right, it’s your brain cells that are at risk. Not mine. But you’re gonna have to buy the book for that. Pretty tricky, eh? Here are the links: Ellora’s Cave or Amazon .
And don’t forget, if you’re drooling and horny by the end of the book don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Tina…you’re my witness. Tina…Tina…dang it! #:0)

Fever boiled beneath the surface of my skin. My body thrummed with need. The adrenaline rush from fighting the dragon…and maybe a little bit the close proximity to Slayer…had fired my Settling to a near violent state.
As soon as we deposited the family of greens on Olympus, I popped away, stepping out of my space shift inside a well-appointed, lushly carpeted hallway. I strode quickly toward the golden doors at the end of the hall, ignoring the surprised, red faces and beady gazes of Dialle’s guards.
As I approached, I lifted a hand and threw the doors open before me, barely slowing to acknowledge the guards’ attempts to stop me.
They were half-hearted attempts anyway. The guards were terrified of me since I put the pretty, little tear-shaped mark on their boss’s neck.
Dialle turned in surprise as I strode into the room, along with several hundred dark-world types who had gathered there for an audience with the newly crowned King of the Royal devils.
The special guards flanking his throne stepped in front of him, closing him off from view. Without even thinking, I flicked my fingers toward those guards and sent them flying. My steps barely faltered as Dialle’s loyal soldiers smacked hard against the wall behind the throne.
Dialle stood, his impossibly handsome face dark with anger. “Astra!”
I didn’t stop until I stood inches away, only a shallow platform separating him from me as I reached for him, touching his hickey with the tip of my finger. His face went pale. He reached up and clasped my wrist but didn’t wrench my finger from his throat. I need you now.
This isn’t a good time…
I don’t care.
You see, the thing about my Settling is that it isn’t just a sexual thing. The struggle a Tweener deals with at age twenty-five, when her Settling sets in, is with the dark and light sides of her nature. Right at that moment my dark nature had bitch slapped my light into submission and my devil had come out in a big way.
I’ll take you right here.
For the first time, the hint of a smile curved Dialle’s lips. You wouldn’t dare.
I sent a small jolt of power into the hickey and Dialle’s eyes rolled back in his head. He jerked my wrist and slammed me hard against his body.
My breath escaped from my lips and the burning coil of need I’d been nursing low in my belly tightened, my skin rising in goose bumps under the force of Dialle’s emerging power.
His black eyes swirled with red and orange lights, making me dizzy when I gazed into them. He lifted his head and cast that gaze around the huge room. “Out!”
His power-drenched voice thundered around the room, bouncing off the walls and coming back with teeth-jarring force. He didn’t wait for the room to clear.
His lips descended to mine. His hot, talented fingers grabbed at my clothing, tearing the soft sweater I wore into pieces and flinging it toward the floor. I ripped into his gauzy, white shirt and wrapped my arms around his hard, smooth body, plunging my fingers into the waistband of his leather pants at the small of his back.
My soft slacks fell in a puddle on the floor, nearly torn in half.
I yanked him into my body, grinding my hips against the hard ridge of flesh that tented the buttery leather of his pants. I infused the leather with power, ripping the pants down the back and scoring his skin in the process.
Dialle sucked in a breath at the pain and his head fell back. I covered his hickey with my lips, sucking hard. Dialle growled and picked me up, slamming me into his velvet-padded throne. I hit the soft back hard and before I could catch my breath, he was on me, his long, hard body covering mine. He pulled my legs apart and buried himself in my body. My body stretched delightfully to accommodate his thick, hard length.
I screamed, my body shattering with pleasure.

I like to mix a little fun, a little magic, and a little real-life spice to create my fictional characters. My fun-loving creations fight their way through a dizzying array of dangerous challenges without letting little things like dangerous bad guys, angry, manipulative gods, evil dark world denizens, or killing Furies dampen their zest for life and hot love!
In my real life, I live on a hobby farm in Indiana with 11 dogs, 2 horses, and one husband. Not necessarily in that order. Yeah…11 dogs…what can I say, I’m a dogaholic!
